Took a shovel
To Dig
So I Dug
Deeper and Deeper
To Bury
Memories
From yesteryear
Covered them over
Planted flowers
And Trees
No one knew
What lay behind
Nature’s Beauty
I forgot
What I didn’t want to remember
Until an earthquake
Shifted the ground
Split open the land
And revealed
What had long been hidden
Everyone stared
Till I took a shovel
to cover it over again
So I can forget
What I didn’t want to remember
